Unless you’ve been living under a rock these past few weeks, if you’re a horse person in Ontario you’re well aware of all the buzz that’s been surrounding the 2015 Pan Am Equestrian games held at our very own Caledon Equestrian Park. The renovations at the park have been going on for the past two years at least in preparation for the games and the final result was breathtaking. With 8 competition days, three sports and near perfect weather it was definitely an event you did not want to miss. In case you weren’t lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the action let me fill you in!
Here are the overall medal standings for our Canadian Riders:
Team Show Jumping: Gold
Team Dressage: Silver
Individual Eventing: Silver (Jessica Pheonix)
Team Eventing: Bronze
Individual Dressage:Bronze (Chris Von Martels)
Overall our Canadian riders represented us very well. In the overall equestrian medal standings we came second to the USA with 8 medals for them and 5 medals for us. I was able to watch all three days of the show jumping and all I can say is WOW. The jumps were massive and beautifully designed, the courses got progressively more challenging each day, the horses were spectacular and overall the event was very well organized. Even the vendor area was beautifully done, there were stations to fill up your water bottles, shuttle busses to take everyone in and out of the venue and every combination that stepped into the ring did so with the fire and drive to win the class.
We feel very lucky to have the privilege of insuring several of the horses on our teams throughout the games and everyone at the office had a great time cheering on all our Canadian riders. Thanks for making us proud guys!
